Practically, if we take a look closely at a light fitting near a window you can see the dust in a normal or AC room. Even if we take care to clean the room daily we still find the dust and breathe particles in and out. Dust lands on everything and doesn’t stay in the air forever. Open a hard drive and leave it for approximately 2-5 minutes in a freshly cleaned room (not a clean room, I mean just a room that has been dusted and vacuumed). When you put back the components and pack the drive, you will find that, it already has dust particles on the platter and no DIY activity can remove the dust particles and fingerprints on the magnetic platter surfaces.
Class 100 Clean Room with ISO 5 Standards is required with not more than 0.5 microns of dust particles allowed inside & it needs to be maintained regularly with airflow, air pressure, temperature, humidity & moisture to work with media level cases. Any part of contamination inside the clean room lab will ruin data recovery job work.
